LG Invests $35.9M in HVAC Research Hub for AI Data Center Cooling
LG Electronics is committing 50 billion won ($35.9 million) to establish a cutting-edge HVAC research center in collaboration with Changwon National University. The facility, slated for completion by mid-2027, will specialize in thermal management solutions for energy-intensive AI data centers.
The 13,200-square-meter complex will feature Korea's first dual extreme-temperature testing environment, enabling simultaneous evaluation of high- and low-temperature cooling systems. This strategic MOVE comes as global HVAC demand is projected to reach $229 billion by 2030, with AI infrastructure driving unprecedented cooling requirements.
LG is relocating its HVAC Academy to the new site, significantly expanding technical training programs for domestic and international engineers. The initiative underscores the growing intersection of industrial cooling technology and advanced computing infrastructure.
